Imran ducks his arrest

Lahore: PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday dodged arrest when  Islamabad Police arrived at his Lahore residence with a court summons to arrest him for his persistent absences from court hearings.

Imran Khan's Chief of Staff Senator Shibli Faraz received the summon on Imran Khan's behalf and told police that Imran Khan is not present at Zaman Park, however, legal processes will comply.

The police team faced a severe reaction from the charged PTI supporters present outside Khan's residence. They chanted slogans and tried to block the road. "We are here to serve court notices only," an Islamabad Police official told the media.

Reacting to the Islamabad Police's arrival at Zaman Park, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf threatened nationwide protests. "Any attempt to arrest Imran Khan will seriously worsen the situation, I want to warn this incompetent and anti-Pakistan government not to push Pakistan into further crisis and act sensibly, said PTI stalwart Ch. Fawad Hussain on his social media account. He summoned workers to reach Zaman Park, immediately.

PTI workers on social media strongly reacted to the police response and the alleged PML-N led coalition government and military establishment of political victimization. Last week, the Islamabad district and sessions court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against the former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case. However, he had earlier received bail in the prohibited funding and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) protest cases.
Imran Khan has been staying at Zaman Park after surviving an assassination attempt on him in Wazirabad, last year.
