RAWALPINDI: Work on two crucial projects will start soon as the Punjab government has released Rs 1.46 billion for the Kutchery Chowk remodel and the Rawalpindi Ring Road.

"The Punjab government has released funds, and we will begin work on the projects soon," said a Rawalpindi Development Authority official.

He said applications had been sought for the selection of the most feasible route from international firms.
We have advertised in the Khaleej Times, for the third-party validation of the Ring Road project, and it be
completed by next month, officials said.

Talking about Kutchery Chowk remodeling, he said his department has asked the contractor, Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), to submit a traffic plan.

According to officials, the government has not released any funds for the Leh Expressway and Flood Channel. Due to a severe financial crisis, the caretaker provincial government had frozen project funding.
Both projects are expected to end traffic congestion in the Twin Cities.

RDA has obtained permission from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to initiate the projects, as they are not politically motivated. The government also intends to build economic zones along the roads.
